On-Field training begins 6 February

After several weeks of preseason fitness training we finally hit the pitch on Saturday, 6 February at 10:30am. The turnout to pre-season training so far has been great so far, so if you haven't been yet, now is a good time to brush the dust off your hockey stick . Men, women, and juniors are all welcome and Grant has promised to keep training fun and interesting.

17^th December 2009 6.45pm at MHS Tan Run and Pool Session
14^th Jan 2010 Hill Session and Touch Rugby MHS 7.30 - 8.45pm
21^st Jan 2010 Sprint Session and European Handball (Weather permitting) Times to follow
28^th Jan 2^nd Tan Run and Pool Session Times to follow
4^th Feb Fitness Test Times to follow
6^th Feb First field session Times to follow
11^th Feb Sprint Session and Weights Session (Weather permitting) Times to follow
13^th Feb Field Session
18^th Feb Hill Session and Indoor Soccer (Weather permitting) Times to follow
20^th Feb Field Session
25^th Feb Fitness test Times to follow
27^th Feb Field Session

March-Field sessions from March onwards

Team Dinner planned for January 16^th or 23^rd

Schedule will change if the weather is too hot. We will use the pool in the event of change.

I expect First and Seconds players of last year to attend a majority of these sessions. The Club has been working hard off the field to right the wrongs of last season and now is the time for the Players to step up and put in the hard work which will go a long way to achieving success in 2010. I want everyone to know that training will be enjoyable and different resources will be used but its up to YOU to put in the effort. Lets lay the solid groundwork now and in Jan/Feb so we are ready for the challenges that will face us come the start of the season.

MHSOB Hockey Club - 2010 Mens SL3 Coach - GRANT McASKELL

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Grant McAskell as coach of the State League 3 mens team in 2010. Thanks to Lachlan, Shaun, Ed and Motee for their efforts in getting this across the line.

A brief bio on Grant:
· Played entire Junior career with Powerhouse (a strong SL1 Club at the time)
· Played PA seniors during that time
· Son of former Australian player Terry McAskell
· Coached Powerhouse Under 17’s for the last 4 years taking them from the lowest level to top level after successive Grand Finals in the past two years.
· Resumed playing a few years ago and is now a Goal keeper.

Career:
· Hospitability Management from 18
· Now in Transport Logistics

Personal:
· Married with one son (Kaya – 2 years old)
   Resides in Oakleigh South
