About MHSOBHC
MHSOBHC is an enthusiastic, friendly, medium-sized Club, comprising a mixture of young families, professionals and students. Our qualified coaches cater to every level of experience and ability. All grades of Women, Men, Veterans, and Juniors train and socialise together, and share a single cohesive Club administration.
In Season 2010, the MHSOB Hockey Club competes in:
* State League 3, Pennant D, and two Metropolitan grades,
* Women's Metro 2,
* Veterans B grade, Veterans' E grade
* Under 17, Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 Juniors sides.
MHSOB has a long and proud history at all levels of Victorian Hockey, winning recent State League Premierships in 1994, 1996 & 2001, producing numerous State and Australian representatives, and competing in State League One in 1997 and 2003. While the Club retains strong links to Melbourne High through our many current students, Old Boys, and their families, much of our membership comes to us through friends or workmates of current players, and local residents. Our successful merger with Caulfield Women's Hockey Club in 2005 has brought a wealth of experience, skill and tradition to our Women's teams, and continues to strengthen the Club both on and off the field.
Home games for all teams are played at the School (Mel:58E2) on the Ron Seaman synthetic turf in South Yarra; one of the premier hybrid hockey pitches in Victoria, below the MCC Hockey Pavilion. Training sessions are held at the ground every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights during the Winter hockey season, from April to September. Men's and Women's matches are fixtured any time between 11 am and 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, while Juniors play on Friday nights or Saturday mornings.
Over the Summer Off-season, the Club enters Indoor and Outdoor competitions catering for Men, Women, Juniors and Veterans. We are currently looking to enter extra teams, and new players of all standards and abilities are always welcome, at any time of the year.
