2011 Pre-season Umpiring Briefing
Pre season Umpiring sessions
Victorian Umpires have the opportunity to participate in two different pre-season sessions.
Both sessions are free and suitable for all umpiring levels, from beginner to elite.
Umpire Practical on-field Training
The Umpire Training Session is a practical demonstration and open discussion delivered by Hockey Victoria's elite umpires, which is designed to train umpires of all levels in the essential on-fieldconcepts of umpiring.
Whilst using the hockey field as the forum base, umpires will walk with the presenters to strategically placed positions on the pitch discussing and demonstrating umpiring skills including: positioning, flow of play, spectator and player management and communication with the other umpire. The session will be run similar to the 2010 program.
At the completion of the on-field session participations will have the opportunity to ask umpire related questions of the umpire panel.
The session is directed towards all umpires of junior or senior level. Participants will be divided into small groups to ensure that the information is targeted to your relevant umpiring experience.
